Sustainable tourism
Liter'Tours is a community of travelers and local experts dedicated to promoting responsible tourism, where travelers, locals and local expert learn from each other.
Our responsibility as a specialist in themed travel is to develop the positive impacts and minimize the negative impacts of our activity. We guarantee the safety of our travelers, respect for others and territories we explore.
Our ambitions for sustainable tourism
By becoming a company with a mission in 2023, Liter'Tours has decided to anchor the consideration of social and environmental issues in the development of its business. Our company's mission : "To travel more sustainably in order to make the world a bette place".
Our daily aim is not to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world. A true corporate ambition, this mission informs the direction in which we direct our actions. It is enshrined in our corporate statues and monitored by an independent body and an internal governance committee.
It guides all the group' strategic decisions, as well as our day-to-day actions, with a view to achieving three objectives :
-
Limit our impact on the environment
-
Create sustainable, shared value
Our commitment for sustainable tourism
Offering trip in favor of soft mobility
Our commitment to responsible tourism
Respecting nature
Nos engagements pour un tourisme responsable
Our commitment to sustainable tourism
Aware that through our activity we have an impact on the territories crossed and therefore a responsibility in their preservation and our way of traveling, we have implemented concrete actions before and during your trip to limit our impact on all.
Our objective is to allow the discovery of remarkable natural territories through active stays concerned with biodiversity and local populations. This charter, inspired by the UN Tourism Ethics Charter, commits each traveler to Liter’tours.
1/ LIMITING OUR IMPACT ON ENVIRONNEMENT
Natural spaces are the favorite playgrounds of our activity. We contribute to their preservation in the destinations where we operate and work to minimize our use of resources during our travels. This involves promoting good practices for responsible travel, but also through research and implementation of solutions intended to limit and reduce carbon emissions associated with our travels or avoid emissions by financing reduction or sequestration projects carbon.
A/ WHAT WE BUY
We work in partnership with suppliers (hotels, restaurants, guides, etc.) who are aware of environmental issues,
At Liter'tours, we favor meals based on local food.
B/ LIMIT POLLUTION
-
We offer trips that promote soft mobility as much as possible (travel on foot, by bike, by kayak, etc.) and eco-mobility (public transport, carpooling, etc.),
-
Offer of stays accessible by land transport (train, bus, etc.) in France and neighboring countries,
-
Rationalization of the length of our stays to the flight time necessary to reach the destination (1 hour flight = 1 day on site),
-
Voluntary carbon contribution equal to the emissions emitted by the flights we purchase for our customers (and by our base of activities in Finland),
-
Planting of one tree per customer who leaves.
2/ PROTECTING HUMANS
Humans, their well-being and their development, are at the center of our concerns, whether it concerns the populations encountered by our travelers, Altaï collaborators or even our guides and partners around the world.
Concerned that our tourism activity, which promotes rurality, can benefit the populations of the territories crossed, often far from the traditional economic fabric, we strive to:
-
Work with partners from the visited territories and working with decently paid local service providers
-
Develop the skills of our partners and in particular our local guides to make their activity sustainable
-
Establish partnerships with local NGOs working for social development or the preservation of local heritage
When we travel in a group, the involvement of all travelers in the life of the group contributes to the good dynamics of the trip. Exchanges with locals and other members of the group must be respectful, caring and friendly. We invite you to respect the populations and their traditions:
-
By adapting your attitude during meetings and moments of sharing,
-
By having a caring and curious approach, which will encourage exchanges but never force them,
-
By only visiting places of worship that are open to you,
-
By asking permission before taking individual photos.
3/ CREATING SUSTAINABILITY
We work to ensure that our tourism activity benefits economically and sustainably the local communities in the territories in which we operate and those where we send our travelers.
We ensure that our trips are a tool in the fight against poverty and we work mainly with small local structures (accommodation, catering, transport, etc.) so that each traveler has a positive economic impact for the often isolated populations who welcome them. . Thus, we apply ourselves to:
-
Distribute our Partner and Supplier Code of Conduct to each of our suppliers to make our supply chain accountable
-
If necessary, support our partners and suppliers in their responsible transformation
-
Collaborate with partners in compliance with local and international laws and regulations
-
Working with partners who respect international human rights and labor standards
-
Work with partners who protect vulnerable people and denounce deviant practices (sexual exploitation, work of minors under 15, etc.)
-
Work with partners who protect wild fauna and flora and take a responsible approach to them
-
Work with partners who do not engage in any form of bribery, corruption or fraudulent activities
For our travelers to also have a positive impact on the local economy, this requires certain responsible attitudes on their part:
-
Avoid giving money to locals (favor donations to recognized NGOs rather than to individuals and mainly children),
-
Tip in accordance with the cost of living so as not to destabilize the local economy.
